ACHIEVEMENTS
Detailed below are some of the biggest moments in Matt's sporting career over the past few years. The best, however, is still yet to come.
01
OLYMPIC GOLD
At just 18 years old, Matt became the third youngest Olympic Champion in British history. He was subsequently awarded an MBE by the late Her Majesty the Queen in the 2021 New Years Honours List.
02
INDIVIDUAL WORLD TITLE
2 years after Matt's first taste of global success came his first individual gold. At the 2023 Swimming World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Matt won the 200m Freestyle in a gritting race. Coming out on top in one of the most heavily contested fields in modern swimming history. At the same competition, he also brought home a second gold and a bronze as part of the GB relay teams.
03
EUROPEAN SC CHAMPION
After a hugely successful summer, Matt finished 2023 in style, claiming victory again in the 200m Freestyle at the European SC Swimming Championships in Otopeni, Romania. Once again, Matt followed this victory up with another gold and a silver through his efforts in the relay events at the competition.
04
BREAKING BOUNDARIES
In 2023, Matt also became the first person in history to break the 22 second barrier in the 50m freestyle, the 48 second barrier in the 100m freestyle and the 1:45 second barrier in the 200m freestyle. This is something never before achieved by any swimmer in history with names such as Michael Phelps unable to secure all 3 before retiring.
